Portfolio Strategist & Trader
Nathan joined the team in 2023 to head the trading desk and support client portfolio management. Previously, he held various positions within the finance organization at Precision Castparts Corp., a Berkshire Hathaway Company.
Nathan assists with the firm’s investment direction, researching various investments for inclusion in client portfolios. Additionally, he oversees Burns Matteson’s trading systems, working with advisors to implement and document new planning strategies effectively.
Nathan is a two-time graduate of Clarkson University, earning his Bachelor’s in Financial Information and Analysis in 2019 before graduating with a Master of Business Administration degree in 2020. He also holds the FINRA Series 65 Investment Advisor License.
Nathan was a standout on the baseball diamond at Clarkson University, receiving all-league honors and named Clarkson’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Outside of work, Nathan enjoys spending time with his family, playing in local sports leagues, and traveling.

William Burns is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional who first entered the financial services field in 1990, and in 2000 he launched Burns Matteson Capital Management, an SEC Registered Investment Advisory firm.
Mr. Burns recently celebrated the 29th anniversary of receiving his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional credentials in 1994. You can verify his certification here.
Mr. Burns first came to Corning in 1994 as part of the team responsible for the effective development and launch of the Investment Services subsidiary of the Corning Credit Union. As the Senior Investment Advisor at the Credit Union, Mr. Burns was responsible for the financial planning and portfolio management needs of Corning Incorporated employees and retirees throughout the United States. During his tenure with the Credit Union, Mr. Burns helped hundreds of Corning employees and retirees make important decisions surrounding the proper rollover and effective management of their Corning Incorporated 401(k) Investment Plan, Employee Stock Purchase Plan accounts, Restricted Shares, and Employee Stock Options.
In 1998, Mr. Burns departed Corning to accept the position of Vice President and Regional Manager for the United States brokerage subsidiary of London-based HSBC Holdings PLC – the 2nd largest bank in the world at that time. HSBC is the parent company of the former Buffalo-based Marine Midland Bank. In December 2000 Mr. Burns returned to Corning to assume the role of President and Chief Investment Officer of Burns Matteson Capital Management.
Over the past 23 years, Mr. Burns has overseen the growth of Burns Matteson Capital Management from a firm that focused primarily on Corning Incorporated employees and retirees located in New York state, to a firm guiding multi-generational families and business owners in 24 states across the country.
Mr. Burns has appeared as a frequent guest on our local NBC affiliate, WETM 18. Mr. Burns appears periodically on the evening news programs discussing a variety of Financial Planning and Investment topics. Mr. Burns has also been interviewed for a variety of print publications, including Money Magazine, The New York Times, The Journal of Financial Planning, and Bloomberg Wealth Manager.
William Burns is a Cum Laude graduate of Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York where he was inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda and Golden Key National Honor Societies. In addition to the coursework leading to his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional designation, Mr. Burns has also been awarded the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) Professional Designations from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Mr. Burns has previously completed the FINRA Series 6, 7, and 63 Securities Examinations, FINRA Series 4 Registered Options Principal Examination, FINRA Series 24 General Securities Registered Principal Examination, and the FINRA Series 65 Investment Advisor Examination.
Mr. Burns is involved in a variety of activities outside of the firm, including coaching national and regional youth basketball teams, as a parent volunteer and former pack leader for the Cub Scouts, and as a piano player at his church. He is a proud eighteen-year member of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of the United Way of the Southern Tier. He is also a board member of the Willow Street Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity formed to provide leadership development and support to young people with financial needs, educational passion, and a desire to succeed, through mentoring and development programs. When not at the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife Donna and their five children and especially being a fan at his children’s sporting events.
Chief Compliance Officer & Vice President, Operations
Chris joined the team in 2015 to manage both Client Services and Operations. Previously, he worked in the wholesale periodicals industry, first as Book Buyer and then in Client Service management.
Chris oversees the operations team’s daily work while keeping his eyes on the firm’s data accuracy, technology integration, and compliance. He is also routinely involved with client projects.
Chris is a graduate of the University of Delaware and met the requirements to be recognized as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional in August of 2020. You can view his certification here. He is also a New York State licensed Notary Public and holds the FINRA Series 65 Investment Advisor license.
When not at work, Chris spends most of his free time with his wife Kerri and their son Benjamin. They enjoy playing board games, watching old sitcoms, and attending Benjamin’s activities. Chris has also donated his time to coaching youth basketball and working on the leadership committee for the local YMCA Adventure Guides.
Client Service Representative
Kelley first joined the team in 2008 after working for a different Registered Investment Advisory firm in Maryland. Kelley assists with firm operations and the servicing of client accounts. She also provides support to clients via email, phone or in-person and coordinates with the Operations Manager to develop, document and execute process improvements.
Kelley is a graduate of the University of Maryland, and she holds the FINRA Series 65 Investment Advisor license. Kelley has also received the Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional™ designation from the College for Financial Planning in Colorado.
Kelley enjoys spending time with her husband and their four children. They enjoy playing sports outside and watching movies together. Kelley volunteers as a youth soccer coach.

Bill Redder has worked in the Financial Planning, Stock & Bond Brokerage, and Insurance industries for more than two decades. For the past 15 years, he’s been a focal point for clients of Burns Matteson Capital Management.
Prior to assuming his role as Vice President and Financial Advisor at Burns Matteson, Mr. Redder held similar positions with the Investment Services subsidiary of the Corning Credit Union, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, and M&T Bank.
Mr. Redder is frequently called upon to provide his insight on investments and related topics on our local NBC affiliate, WETM TV 18 in Elmira.
Mr. Redder is a graduate of Huntingdon College, receiving his degree in Business Administration with a minor in International Business. Mr. Redder previously completed the FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 Securities Examinations.
Mr. Redder is involved in a variety of community groups, and he enjoys spending time away from the office with his children and grandchildren, and taking his dogs on long walks.
